Race yachts are perfect for teambuilding activities

Sailing is an excellent team building activity, encouraging everyone to work together towards a common goal - sometimes in challenging situations. Good communication is key to sailing, so teams need to focus together in order to succeed.

Match racing occurs on two similar yachts. If the yachts are the same, then the difference made, will only come from a good working team, a winning spirit and applied tactics during the race!

Sailingevents teambuilding offering can vary from having a formal trainer on board, observing the roles and communication between the team members, inviting a key note speaker/professional sailor, or simply racing around the buoys against your colleagues – "Matchracing". We believe the latter can be very efficient for teambuilding purposes but you are ofcourse more than welcome to have part of your official training program on board of our yachts.

We have several options. The 50ft German Frers, Morningstar & Navigator are spectacular yachts to race (see boat rental to read more about these yachts). Up to 24 people can sail on these 2 yachts.

If your group exists of 12-16 people, you can also organize a match racing event, but on two smaller yachts, IMX 38.

The match racing program

The day usually starts with training on board of the yachts. Each team will discuss the roles during the race and practice for about an hour till the start. There will be a regatta committee to ensure the buoys are laid out. Then the race can begin. One round per race, and we usually sail 3 races depending on the wind. It is absolutely important to keep a close eye on your opponent and make fast decisions! The first over the line, has won.

After finishing the race, you will sail into the harbor for some drinks (and dinner) and the overall announcement of the winner in our award ceremony.
